Day Four
It almost feels like groundhog day here. I am up at the same time every day & get on the same shuttle at the same time every day. Today everyone is a little excited though because it’s Saturday which means tomorrow is Sunday and it is our off day. I knew today would be a bit longer of a day because it was laser day.
We arrive at the clinic and head to the infusion room for breakfast. When I saw what was being served I almost cried happy tears. CHIA SEED PUDDING. This is what I eat every morning back home so I was excited. Everyone else was being picky and I almost asked to have the extra 4 servings. We were served green juice, kombucha and our smoothie just like every other morning.
I still had my IV yesterday so I didn’t have to worry about the hour delay looking for a vein that would work. I started right in with my B17 infusion. Today my massage was the first treatment of the day so I totally passed out again. This time I was much more careful about the way I took off my clothes so I didn’t have a tangled IV pole mess.
I headed back to the infusion room where I received a new infusion. It’s a natural infusion called Hypericin. The benefits of Hypericin are antimicrobial & anti tumor. Doctors don’t seem to concerned about it when they talk about but the other ladies warned me about some of the side effects I could have. It is another light sensitive drug which includes sunlight. Some of the patients experience a pins & needle feeling when they are exposed to sun and others get a rash. Typically you are sun sensitive for 24-36 hours. The doctors just told me to wear long pants, long sleeves and hat and I would be fine. First off who brings long sleeves and pants to a tropical paradise? There needs to be a packing list like summer camp. This drug is a light pink and for some reason everything in my life is this “rose gold” color. My wedding ring, my laptop, my apple watch etc. I had good feelings that this stuff would work just because it’s my favorite color. This was a longer infusion for an hour and a half.
During the time I was receiving my infusion I did the Vibe Machine, PEMF, localized hyperthermia and enemas. I didn’t receive the red light therapy today because it can cause serious reactions with the Hypericin.
I headed into the laser room. Once again I was hooked up to the 6 different lights. I was able to get quite a bit of reading in during this time which I was excited about because before I was getting interrupted every 2 pages. Lunch was served in this room today for me. It was black bean tacos which were okay. One of the better lunches for sure. I am surprised by the lack of vegetables available especially in the clinic.
My last treatment for the day was the hyperbaric chamber. Once again I was a little nervous from what I experienced yesterday but right off the bat I told the nurse to crank the oxygen. I meditated today instead of listening to music and letting my mind wander. This definitely helped. I am also looking for some great podcast suggestions because I have 45 minutes to listen so I might as well educate or entertain myself!
I met with my doctor today and he mostly had only good things to say. My blood work looks great except for my cholesterol which has never been high so he thinks it could be a hormonal issue. We will be doing more blood work on Monday to run some more tests. Other than that all my levels are within normal range but there are a couple he would like a little higher just so I have a stronger immune system that can fight the cancer naturally. The Spanglish is a little hard to understand so I am going to request copies of the blood work this week so I can research some things myself.
We headed back to the resort and because I was nervous about what reaction I might have to the sun Mom and I decided to keep it low key around the hotel. We thought it would be nice to go to one of the restaurants instead of room service. As we were wandering the lobby we noticed that things didn’t open for another 2 1/2 hours and we were hungry then so we weren’t waiting for that. We also looked at the menus and I didn’t see any green vegetables which I was craving for. So room service it was. I ordered steamed vegetables and I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised when there was asparagus, broccoli and zucchini!
After dinner we decided to go use the fitness center and get some exercise in since I am sitting or laying most of the day. Man is this fitness center nice. The view is amazing and it has all the equipment I would typically use at 24 Hour Fitness. When we got back to the room the sun was going down so I figured it was the perfect time to go down and enjoy the pool. Night swimming was always a family favorite growing up.
I was sent home with an Ultra Sound machine today that requires 40 minutes of use every day. 10 minutes for each lung and then 20 minutes for the left butt. The name of this treatment is Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy (SPDT). On the first day in clinic I took SP-Activate and that stays absorbed in the cancer cells but is quickly released by healthy cells. When exposed to the correct light and sound frequencies, SP-Activate explodes into free radical oxygen which destroys the cells. The death of the cancer cells creates an inflammatory process that attracts the immune system to get involved. The Sono-Dynamic part of this process includes the ultra sound machine. They use this for deep tumors, like my lungs, so the sound waves can reach the tumor and help destroy them. I will complete this therapy every day for the next year at home. We may continue longer if we see that it is successful.
