Day Three
Once again the shuttle came to pick us up at 7:15am. Let me tell you it is extremely hard to get up at 6:30am when the black out curtains make the room cave-like and you’ve had long exhausting days at the clinic. I am feeling a little more comfortable now that it is Day 3 but I am still getting new treatments I haven’t had done before. The other ladies say that by Day 5 everything seems normal and then the time just flies.
I started my day with breakfast and was a little worried to see what he would bring us but today it was berries, dragonfruit, starfruit and nuts. I can totally get into that meal. I had another green juice, shot of kombucha & that super food smoothie.
Unfortunately today I wasn’t so lucky in the IV department. Since they took out my IV yesterday since it had already been in 2 days they tried my right arm. I told them it would be nice to not have it in my elbow area because it’s uncomfortable to function as a normal human with it in that spot. They agreed so they tried, tried and tried again in multiple places in my arm but no such luck. I told them to just do it in my elbow since they couldn’t get it but even there they kept saying “baby veins”. After the 3rd nurse failed with putting in the IV they realized I had a port. I don’t know Spanish but they didn’t seem too confident in trying to access my port. I told them no way would they try in my chest that leads directly to my heart. So left arm elbow it is. The fourth nurse got it with ease.
Okay so now we are about an hour behind schedule which worries me because we have so much to get through in the day but I am finally hooked up to the B17. This runs for about 45 minutes but my nurse, Alberto, said we could just start with the other therapies while I am hooked up. We go into the exam room where we do Infrared Therapy & Local Hyperthermia.
After my B17 finished I was then hooked up to a high dose of Vitamin C. High doses of Vitamin C help support the immune system and reverse the destructive enzymatic effect of Hyaluronidase, a cancer cell secreted enzyme.
I then completed both the Coffee and Ozone enemas went onto the Vibe Machine and finished with the PEMF. I then had 20 minutes to relax in my massage. I was still hooked up to my Vitamin C drip so it was quite difficult to take my clothes off and even more difficult to put them back on. My dress got all sorts of tangled in the IV line and pole. My drip line finished so I asked my nurse to just disconnect me so I could untangle. He didn’t understand and almost wanted me to walk around the clinic with no clothes on. I finally showed him how tangled everything was and then he understood. I feel like I am cruising through the day now that I am more familiar with the processes of each of the treatments.
Now it was lunch time. I wonder what today is… Drumroll… Chickpeas, mushrooms & carrots. It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great. I love mushrooms & carrots and can tolerate chickpeas but whatever these spices are need to go. I also had carrot juice & a shot of apple kombucha.
After lunch I was introduced to a new treatment, Whole Body Hyperthermia. This is different from the localized hyperthermia because instead of just heating the area where the tumors are we are actually heating my entire body. We all know that I like a temperate climate. I live in Los Angeles so I am definitely that person that has a sweater on with any temperature below 70 degrees Fahrenheit and then I get irritable with any temperature above 83 degrees Fahrenheit. Well lucky me, this machine is 136 degrees and heats my body to 102-104. Alberto reassured me that he would be in to check on me every 10 minutes and when I climbed in before the machine was on I thought I would be fine since my head and shoulders were out and then there was a towel draped to protect my face from getting any heat. Well I was so wrong! Before the first 10 minute check in time I already felt like I was cooking from the outside. It felt like someone was pressing an iron against certain areas in my body. Alberto came to check on me and I said I wanted to quit. He talked me into another 10 minutes but he would turn the temperature down. I feel like anything above 85 degrees is hot so that obviously did not change how I felt but whatever I am strong so I can do another 10 minutes. At the 20 minute mark he came in to turn off the machine and give me coconut water to help rehydrate myself. He also said to cool down for about 5 minutes before moving on to the next treatment. I couldn’t wait to get out and feel the cool, dryer air but I forgot where I was. Cancun. Mexico. It’s humid and 85 degrees every day. There was no cooling down for me.
Next I was headed back to the infusion room where I would be sitting on light pads or Lumen Photon Therapy. They light pads are placed on the affected area. The clinic has a proprietary, advanced LED pads that use pulsed light technology at two specific SP Activate wavelengths. This allows for much deeper penetration of light into the body compared to what can be accomplished with other commercial light sources. This was a 30 minute treatment that I got to sip on my coconut water, read my book and enjoy the view of the Lagoon.
After I had finally cooled down it was time for the Hyperbaric treatment which would be the last treatment for the day. I was excited because I really enjoyed this therapy yesterday. I put my headphones in and started singing along to my country music when all of a sudden I got super anxious. I had to talk myself out of a panic attack. I started knocking on the little window to turn up my oxygen tank so it was easier to breathe and then closed my eyes. I think because I was still very hot from the hyperthermia I began to panic that I was zipped in a bag and couldn’t get out for cool air. I calmed myself down so much that I totally took a deep sleep 30 minute nap.
Even though we had run about an hour behind in the morning we made up time somewhere because I had finished everything at 2pm. Typically when you finish that early they will make a special trip back to the hotel for you so you aren’t just waiting around the clinic for an hour and half.
I was excited to be back at the hotel so early to enjoy a whole afternoon by the pool. Once again I was hungry so I ordered another salad poolside and enjoyed the view. I also cheated and got some very delicious waffle fries. I still had my IV in so I wasn’t able to actually get in the water but listening to the waves was good enough for me.
The rest of the evening Mom and I just enjoyed going for a walk to the grocery store and watched some chick flicks. I typically like to be asleep by 9:30 so I can enjoy 9 hours of sleep. Yes I am somewhat of a diva when it comes to how many hours of sleep I get.
I'm loving these meals. How does the Vitamin C drip make you feel? do you notice anything?
